In New Jersey, Licensed and Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselors must meet biennial continuing education (CE) requirements that combine both live and home study training formats. The New Jersey Board accepts CE hours from NAADAC-approved providers, including CPD Classes. Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC): Must complete 40 CE hours every two years. Up to 20 hours can be fulfilled through self-paced online courses from CPD Classes, while the remaining 20 hours must be earned in a live, interactive setting. Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC): Required to complete 60 CE hours every two years. A maximum of 30 hours may come from CPD Classes home study programs, with the other 30 hours required to be completed through live training or workshops. This flexible structure allows New Jersey addiction counselors to meet professional development requirements while balancing online convenience and live engagement.
